No matter how disturbing you think it is, ALWAYS practice on a cadaver hoof before trimming a live hoof. And always keep one handy -- If you're ever trimming your horse and don't know what to do, set your horse's hoof down and test it on the cadaver hoof. It's better to be safe than cripple your horse.
