Authorities have found the body of a man who was riding a horse that fell into a creek on a private ranch.
The Bexar County Sheriff's office says 37-year-old Jose Cosio and a 15-year-old girl were on the horse Sunday evening on the ranch near Helotes northwest of San Antonio when it lost its footing and tumbled down an embankment into San Geronimo Creek.
The girl's brother, who was on a second horse, rescued his sister but was unable to find Cosio. Volunteers and deputies had searched overnight into Monday. Water in the creek can reach 20 feet deep.
Authorities say Cosio worked at the ranch and was familiar with the area.
The horse died in the fall and its body also was recovered Monday.
