13 horses die after barn fire

This is not the first time this has happened. This is one of the many reasons I hate stalls. I never have to worry about my horses getting burnt alive because I keep them in a pasture. Also because I care about their wellbeing, and I realize that social animals don't belong in stalls (or cells). Only criminals belong in cells. What crime has a horse committed to live life behind bars?

Note: I'm not referring to stall rest. Sometimes it's necessary in that case to keep a horse in a stall, to prevent further injury and allow the horse to heal.
